    Il Giardino di Fontarronco Guest Farm is owned by the Illuminati’s, a family from Val di Chiana -Arezzo (Tuscany), where they run their own market garden: visit the website at www.illuminatifrutta.it

    The farmhouse La Foresteria includes ten apartments of various sizes, restored and furnished with care and respect for the ancient Tuscan rural tradition. Each apartment has its own private patio, equipped with table and chairs, to relax or dine outdoors. Guests of the Foresteria have at their disposal an exclusive swimming pool (16x8 mt.) with 5 hydromassage seats and a large outdoor area equipped with a barbecue.

    La Foresteria is the ideal place both for those who wish to spend a relaxing and regenerating vacation in the heart of the green Tuscan landscape and for those who decide to spend a vacation discovering the art and culture of some of the most fascinating Tuscan cities. The city of Arezzo is closeby, and during a stay you can easily visit Florence, Siena and San Gimignano.

    We provide our guests an exclusive restaurant.

    During the cooler season, dinner is served in the comfort of the old stables restored respecting Tuscan traditions. In summer, dinner is served on the patio where you can enjoy the warm evenings and fantastic views of our orchards and the Tuscan hills beyond.

    Our guests have the opportunity to experience the delights of typical Tuscan cuisine, accompanied by some excellent Tuscan wines. A perfect end to the day.

  • What to do here?

    We are in the Valdichiana area, which is the southeast of Tuscany, roughly between Arezzo, Cortona and Siena. Besides those cities themselves, you can combine different destinations in a day trip:

    - Lake Trasimeno for a day on / on the water
    - Pienza / Montepulciano / Val d'Orcia
    - Perugia / Assisi
    - San Gimignano / Siena

    The Autostrada A1 and Siena-Perugia motorways ensure that travel times are shorter compared to other parts of Tuscany. Florence is easily accessible by train for a day trip, which prevents parking

About us

The origins of our farmhouse are lost in time even though we are led to believe that the guesthouse was originally built at the beginning of the 13th Century. In fact, on restoring the old cellars of the Leopold structure, architectural finds, proving the existence of a landing port, were brought to light.

In fact, even though Valdichiana is now one of the most flourishing farming areas in our country, it was marshland until it was reclaimed during the 18th Century. A second substantial change occurred in 1724, when, following the reclamation of Valdichiana (planned by Fossombroni), Duke Leopold of Tuscany (after whom the type of structure is named), issued a decree on farmhouse building canons establishing the existence of a cubic structure above the roof called a “Pigeon Loft” or “Dovecote”.

The stables, farmyard animal stalls and barns date back to the early 19th Century. It was during this period that the first large families moved en masse to the hamlet. The family became completely self-sufficient.

The Randellinis, later better known as the Bianchinis, lived in the Guesthouse until 1940 and then moved to one of the new towns that sprung up immediately after the war.

However, still today, nostalgia drives the elderly to come to visit their old homes on bicycles; it is thanks to them that we managed to bring to light details that would otherwise have escaped the modern world and been lost in time. Thanks to the old villagers, old traditions and customs have been re-discovered ; the unusual legends and historical ambiguities of the Foresteria il Giardino di Fontarronco to make the farmouse even more surreal and romantic for visitors today.
