Our estate Poggio Martino goes back in history until 1700. It belonged to the Papal Family Piccolomini of Pio II, the Pope of Pienza. Initially it was used as a establishment of the hospital of Florence, to take care of passers-by in the more souther Valdichiana region.

Farmhouse Poggio Martino is located on a beautiful hill in Tuscany and consists of seven apartments, each one with private terrace. It has a swimming pool and child’s pool. Its wonderful panoramic position with view over the hills heading up to Montepulciano create a serene atmosphere. The house has been restored preserving the original architectural features and has been carefully decorated in rural Tuscan style.

The area of Tuscany where this farmhouse is located, between Montepulciano and Cortona, offers many opportunities to explore the region. Montepulciano is a Renaissance town with several artistic palaces and a beautiful central square from the 16th century. This is also a wine production region where the famous ‘Nobile’ wine is made. From Poggio Martino you can visit various cities in the region, such as Pienza, Montalcino, Cortona, Siena, Lake Trasimeno and the Chianti wine region.

Tenuta Poggio Martino is located in the municipality of Cortona in the province of Arezzo halfway between Rome and Florence and is an excellent starting point for interesting excursions: it is 10 km from Cortona and Lake Trasimeno, 15 km from Castiglione del Lago and, reachable in half an hour by car, are Montalcino and Pienza. The resort is about 10 Km from Camucia, where it is possible to find all the necessary services (Florence 115 Km and Assisi 60 Km).
